“No frills…great seafood!”
I hadn’t been there in quite some time, but decided to go one Friday evening when friends and I just didn’t want to change out of our shorts and get all dressed up for dinner…I thought of the Cull House…not frills…great seafood! Every dish we had was more sumptuous than the last…two kinds of friend Calamari always an appetizer staple in my book and lets you know how the rest of the meal will be…My friends had Seafood Fra Diavolo dish with pasta…I had the broiled seafood platter where there was a nice variety of selections including a baked clam…they do serve on paper plates, which was initially a turn off to me and many others…but when you realize why it changes everything… being so close to the water with the high water table the way they can accommodate so many patrons is to use paper and not the extra water it would take to wash dishes. It’s what I’ve heard and sounds reasonable to me…the paper plates they use are an upscale version of what looks like the brand Chinette…thick, sturdy and non absorbent.

“No pretensions, just great food!”
The Cull House is a comfortable, affordable local seafood restaurant with outstanding food! I love lobster and they have an amazing special from Sunday to Thursday. I don’t know how they do it, but it is the most delicious and perfectly steamed lobster I have ever eaten. And I have ordered it many times. I have also enjoyed the seafood shepherds pie, the calamari and the lobster roll. Everything is delicious. My husband often orders the broiled seafood platter and is never disappointed. Their wine and beer selections are good. The atmosphere is relaxed and pleasant. There is outdoor seating in the warmer months. People sometimes complain about paper plates and plastic cutlery but I don’t even notice it anymore. When the food is so wonderful, who cares what it is served on!

“Always a Great Meal!”
Stopped in recently for lunch. Had the New England clam chowder and the grilled cheese and lobster. The soup was rich and flavorful and the sandwich was nicely balanced with cheese and lobster… they were not skimpy on the lobster! Would definitely get these dishes again. The staff is always helpful and pleasant.

“Unbelievable Seafood! OMG!”
I had a a great seafood dish, my husband had a mix of seafood, and my daughter had chicken fingers. We even had mozzerella sticks. Everything was awesome. Food was delicious, timing was perfect to the table, service was awesome. If you’re in the mood for an easy, casual setting on the water with food that you would expect from an upscale NYC restaurant without the fuss and high prices.

“GREAT SEAFOOD AND MORE…”
The Cull House is the hidden gem for seafood. If you are looking for a awesome seafood meal without the crazy expense this is it. It is a casual place by all means but there is no skimping on the quality of the food or the service. I highly recommend The Cull House.

“Great lobster roll”
Went for dinner and had a great lobster roll. We were told all food was prepared to order and the chef made me a lobster roll without celery as requested.

“Our favorite place after a trip to sailor’s haven and sayville”
This is our fifth meal at the Cull House. The owner, John, greeted us at the door. He was super friendly with my son and in general, the restaurant is very kids friendly (they have a nice-sized kids menu and they serve the kids drinks in glasses with lids.) My friend and my husband had very nice seafood platters. I had grilled Baha tacos. All the seafood was very fresh. While the menu is not particularly inventive, the atmosphere and the service is great. I also think the owner is quite attentive to the quality of the seafood. For example, he says that he has been having trouble sourcing high-quality steamers and so he’d rather not serve them at all over serving lesser-quality ones. Our dinner for 3 adults and two kids with a bottle wine was about $120 without tip.

“Sunday Lunch”
We use to come here when we lived near by some years back and it wasn’ t very good. But decided to give it another chance, and we are glad we did. When we got there wr were greeted immediately and seated. Our server was Tim, a young man that was older than he looked. He was great. He attended to our every need. I let him know I had certain allergies and mad sure my drinks didn’t have the ingredients I was allergic to. Unfortunately, my Mahi Mahi Taco did. But he didn’t know because I fogot to tell him of the ingredient in it. But everything else was very good. The drinks were very good. The food was very good. And so was the ambiance. The prices are a little high, but thats to be expected for seafood served at a restaurant on the water next to a Ferry Terminal that caters to some pretty well off people from the city going to their homes on Fire Island. All in All, this is a very good place to eat at. You shouldn’t be disappointed.
